We are so excited to welcome Ben Cameron, a talented and sought after performer and teacher, to the SLCH for a two-part workshop on August 23-25th! This workshop is open to all SLTD students and encouraged for both our dance and theatre workshop students!
ABOUT BEN CAMERON
Ben Cameron is one of NYC’s most sought after writers, teacher, performer and host. Ben has appeared on Broadway in the original cast of Wicked, Aida and the original cast of Broadway’s Footloose. He has toured with Sweet Charity, Fame, Tommy, Footloose and State Fair. Ben has danced for recording artists, on the ESPY awards, in countless industrials and multiple productions at The Trump Taj Mahal (direct by Joe Lanteri) and was a founding company members of Utah Contemporary Dance Theatre (now called Odyssey) and Dre.Dance (Taye Diggs, Andrew Paler-mo dirs.) As a teacher Ben has served on the faculties of NYU’s CAP21 conservatory and Wagner College on Staten Island. Ben continues to teach master classes across the globe and recently cho-reographed a Jean Paul Gaultier fashion show at Life Ball in Vienna with the Rockettes. Ben has written and directed several solo shows for top Broadway talent and has performed his solo show “Different is Good” to sold out audiences in 2005 and 2010. Ben appears on the cast albums of Wicked and Footloose and can be heard on Bobby Cronin’s album Reach the Sky performing Dance Your Troubles Away (a song written for him by Mr. Cronin). One of Broadway’s most be-loved personalities, Ben hosts the long running hit Broadway Sessions, (featured weekly worldwide on BroadwayWorld.com) now in it’s 8th year. Ben has also hosted Mostly Sondheim at The Duplex (3 time MAC nominee), countless benefits and industry events at NYC’s most prestigious venues and was the MainStage host for the 1st ever BroadwayCon in 2016. Ben will be returning as host of BroadwayCon in 2017 at The Javitts Center. Ben recently hosted the New Year’s Downton Abbey marathon on Masterpiece Classic for PBS channel 13. Ben’s excited to bring his signature high energy style to Spring Lake Theatre and Dance this August. Focus-ing on technique, strength and storytelling- Ben’s infectious humor keeps students laughing while they sweat and learn, not only about theater and dance, but about themselves. Students will focus on a wide range of Musical Theatre dance styles including original Broadway choreography song and dance (YES!!! It can be done at the same time!!!!!). Ben invests himself, heart and soul, into his classes providing individual attention to every student with an emphasis on finding what is unique and special about them.
